Alucard - Adrian Farenheights Tepes

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Adrian Farenheights Tepes (or Alucard) is the son of Lisa Farenheights and Count Vlad Tepes Dracula.  I have loved the character of Alucard since I was about 17.  Castlevania SOTN is simply one of those games that just brings back fond memories of high school, and the friends who first got me into video games.  SOTN was one of the very first video games I ever played for the Playstation, so that in itself gives it a special place in my heart.  Back in 2003 I made my Maria Renard costume, and my friend Kabuki made Alucard.  While I loved Kabuki and his Alucard is still stunning, I’ve always wanted to tackle the costume myself.  Up until now I’ve never had any friends who were really fans of the game who would be willing to wear the costume for me.  Thankfully Andy came along :D!!

Age: ??

Debut: Anime Expo 2007

Cost: $1500

This costume was insanely expensive just with the yardage for it alone.  Making it was definitely my most difficult endeavor, and I will say that I am glad that it’s over with!  The easiest thing was probably the wig, since I’ve grown accustomed to teasing wig hear and matting it to make it do what I want.  I can’t really say which was the more irritating garment though; was it the frock coat or the waist coat?  The waist coat I applied a lot of applique work to, using metallic top stitching thread.  Funny the silver top stitching thread didn’t snap, whereas on the frock coat it was snapping every 4 stitches.  I think perhaps top stitching the gold trim onto the coat was the most annoying… simply because of all the thread snappage.  Makes me wonder if the Schmetz Metallica needles are worthless.. or maybe I’m just a nub :X Shield was made by my friend Ben and myself.. with insulation foam, sculpey, surf board resin, and epoxy putty.  It was our first try on props so I think it turned out nice :D
